I bought some red Gerbera Daisies the other week, thinking I would just take some flower shots. I was so inspired by the expressive nature of the flowers and in my push to be a better photographer, I ended up getting Tom and Zach involved too. Below are the fruits of my labor.
I feel like these flowers had a personality all their own!
Getting Zach involved wasn’t easy. When I told him, I wouldn’t be shooting his face, he seemed more willing to do it. One of the things I learned was to let him feel comfortable holding the flowers, not telling him what to do. Sticking his thumb in his pocket was what felt natural for him and I think it works.
Tom was the better model of course, but trying to direct him to hold the flowers a certain way didn’t work either. It has to feel natural regardless of the willingness of the model or it will look awkward.
I will have to get more Gerbera Daisies in different colors very soon. The possibilities seem endless! Have a great rest of the week!
